• Blacksburg-Roanoke-NRV Now Knows How to Have Fun

      As a native Southwest Virginian who grew up in Pulaski County and started college at Radford University, I am very familiar with how kinda lame nightlife used to be in the Roanoke - Blacksburg - NRV area. Unless you were going to house parties, there really wasn't much for you in the area at that time. After moving to NC in 2001, I came back every now and then for holidays mostly with not a whole lot to do.

   

     Now, I'm happy to report that times have changed! I have noticed that the scene in the area has grown exponentially in the last few years. There is now more variety and depth for the nightlife and socially active reveler. The music scene is thriving with a number of quality bands and groups. These groups in the area are finally getting their due and the following of these acts have increased. From the Third Eye, and Boogieburg groups in Blacksburg, The funk band Groova Scape, Watershed, to name a few.

   

                                                      

  The nightclub/dance/music offerings, while still somewhat behind in my view, are definitely coming along thanks to places like Awful Arthurs, 202 Market, Martin's Downton, Red Clay in Downtown Roanoke, and others. We must not leave out the old, eclectic and diverse stand out that has been keeping the scene going for years, The Park in Roanoke.

  A lot of new eateries and bars in the area as well. Places like Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill   , Cabo Taco, the Awful Arthur's, the expansion of Sharkey's in Radford, and there are even some good sushi spots around the area.

   

   

  Needless to say, I will be coming home more frequently than I have in the past, not only for business, but also because there are more options to entertain myself. Unitelive.com in Blacksburg - Roanoke - NRV will be on the scene investigating more in-depth all these offerings & happenings and reporting back to you guys. We will also provide an outlet for any businesses, talent, people, etc. to express and promote what they do and are about.
