I have lived in Durham since '06 and came into the area a good deal since I moved to NC in '01. I admit that Raleigh is tops in the Triangle area as would be expected. We got our start in Raleigh so I'm always partial. One of the things that has always amused me is the downplay I hear about the Durham scene. There still exists some of silly stereotypes but those are quickly falling by the wayside.
I'm proud to inform people that they should no longer sleep on the Durham scene. There is a growing group of young professionals in addition to the Duke and NCCU students that have traditionally been the staple of Durham. The vibe in the city of Durham has changed even since I've been living here. There are more events and an even greater since of community. there is also increasing recognition throughout the Triangle and NC of Durham.

The nightclub/dance/music offerings, are definitely coming along thanks to old standby's and new places like Revolutions, Shooter II, Alivia's, Carmen's, George's Garage, Marvell's Event Center and plenty others.
There are definitely more options here now which help to boost not only Durham but the whole RDU area. A couple of major developments like the American Tobacco Campus and Brightleaf square have fueled the city. Perhaps nothing more has led the way than The world-class Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC). Downtown no longer looks like a ghost town. There are a lot of great dining options as well in the area.

Needless to say, I hope you will will take advantage of the offerings in Durham more frequently than you have in the past. Unitelive.com in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill will be on the scene investigating more in-depth all these offerings & happenings and reporting back to you guys. We will also provide an outlet for any businesses, talent, people, etc. to express and promote what they do and are about.

We look forward to it!
